A look into the future of American elections
Discover why Dr. Larry J. Sabato is recognized as one of the nation’s most respected political analysts when he presents Sabato’s Crystal Ball in the seventh full season of the Don and Catharine Bryan Cultural Series. It will be held Wednesday, February 6 at 7 p.m. at First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills.
“Be amazed by Professor Sabato who heads up Sabato’s Crystal Ball, which has won numerous awards,” said John Tucker, chairman of the Bryan Cultural Series. “The Pew Charitable Trust recognized the Crystal Ball as the #1 leader in the field of political prediction, and The Daily Beast designated it as one of the top political sites on the web. Come here him in person!”
Sabato is probably best known for his work as the Director of the Virginia Center for politics where he oversees the well-known Crystal Ball website which has gained fame for its remarkable ability to predict election outcomes in the US. In 2004 the Crystal Ball notched a 99% accuracy rate in predicting all races for the House, Senate, Governor and each State's Electoral College outcome. In 2006 the Pew research Center's Project For Excellence In Journalism recognized Crystal Ball as the leader in the field of political predictors. In 2008 the Crystal Ball came within one electoral vote of the exact tally of the Electoral College while also correctly picking the result of every signal gubernatorial race across the country. In 2010 the crystal ball was the first to recast a solid Republican takeover of the house. While others were predicting a Romney victory in 2012 the crystal ball forecast a substantial Obama margin in the Electoral College.
