Two homes in Southern Shores were damaged by fire over the weekend. There were no injuries and both fires were reported at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, June 30.

The house at 313 Duck Road sustained major damage. The fire appears to be an electrical issue that started in a detached garage near the residence, causing the residence to catch fire.

The other fire, at 103 High Dune Loop, appears to have been caused by a barbecue grill. The residence sustained considerable damage.

The Southern Shores Police and Fire Departments extended thanks to the N.C. Forest Service, Duck Police Department and the Duck, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Colington, Nags Head, Roanoke Island, Corolla and Lower Currituck Fire Departments for their assistance with the two incidences.
