Ashley Johnson, EMT Paramedic with the Department of Emergency Medical Services, is the May Dare County Employee of the Month. Deputy EMS Chief Terence Sheehy presented Johnson the award at the May 7 Board of Commissioners meeting. "Ashley’s supervisors describe her as loyal and dedicated. She has received numerous letters from patients always remarking on the excellent care they received under her watchful eye and skilled hands," Sheehy said.
Johnson began working with Dare County EMS in 2003 as an EMT Basic. In 2008, she was promoted to EMT Paramedic. "Ashley believes in giving back to her community and plays a large part in our agency’s role in the Toys for Tots and Shop with a Cop programs. She is also involved in Lights at Christmas, another non-profit that helps local children have a great Christmas," said Sheehy.
At the same meeting, Johnson was also recognized as the Outer Banks First Responder of the Year by the Outer Banks Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10950.
