The Town of Manteo’s special events committee is soliciting vendors to apply for the upcoming season of the Farmers’ Market, held each Saturday, 8 am til noon, May 11 through October 5, 2019, on the waterfront at Creef Park on Fernando Street in downtown Manteo. This year marks the 14th year for the popular market featuring fresh produce and locally crafted items.
Applications are available at Manteo Town Hall, 407 Budleigh Street, or on the website at townofmanteo.com, click on the link for forms and fees, and go to the special events link for the Manteo Farmers’ Market’s 2019 registration packet. The deadline to apply is April 1, 2019.
Based on survey results from last year, several changes are anticipated for this year’s market, said Tim Teeple, manager of the Farmers’ Market. To encourage more fresh produce, the $130 annual fee will be waived for up to five vendors who sell produce exclusively and who agree to attend the full season, with no more than three absences. Also, vendors selling perishables, including produce and baked goods, will be given covered space at nearby Magnolia Market on rainy days.
