The Nags Head Elementary School Annual 4th-5th Grade Spelling Bee featured 17 students in an exciting competition. Fifth grader Emily Shepard was the winner, and fourth grader Finnegan Davis was the runner-up. Shepard was set to represent NHES at the 26th Annual Downeast North Carolina Regional Spelling Bee in Washington, NC. Contestants were, front row, Avery Hogan, Ella Morris, Behr Ladd, Finnegan Davis, Emily Shepard, Nina Quiros, Victoria Story; and, back row, Connor Allen, Kira Allsworth, Kayla Austin, Sabra Dawson, Valeri Garcia-Palacios, Stella Matzgannis, Francesca Mueller, Riley Szalkiewicz, Nathaniel Thompson and Ezra Ward.
