Nags Head Police have arrested a man suspected of burglarizing at least two homes.

Marquis Wade Charity, 37, of Manteo, was arrested Saturday, Feb. 4 after he was seen leaving a vacant home in the 3900 block of South Virginia Dare Trail at about 10 pm. When police officers stopped the vehicle Charity was driving, they found two televisions in the back seat. Officers then checked the home he had just left and found it had been burglarized and that two televisions had been stolen.

While searching Charity’s Manteo residence in the 1000 block of George Daniels Road, investigators found additional electronic items that link him to at least one other Nags Head burglary.

Charity was taken to the Dare County Detention Center where he was placed under a $13,000 bond and charged with second degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, larceny, and possession of stolen goods. Additional charges are pending.

The Nags Head’s Police Department would like to thank the Dare County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance with the investigation.
