There’s a local favorite competing at this week’s PGA Golf Championship at the Bethpage Black course on Long Island. Cory Schneider, 35, the long-time PGA Director of Instruction at the Pointe Golf Club in Powell’s Point will be teeing it up. He qualified for the PGA Championship by finishing at T17 (+2) during the four-day PGA Professional Championship to qualify for the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black in May.

Along with being an accomplished golfer, Cory has a reputation as a great instructor. Perhaps his most famous student is First Flight High School student Katherine Schuster, who captured the Nighthawks’ first state golf title and took first place in the prestigious National 2018 Drive, Chip and Putt Competition in 2018.
