Manteo takes two from First Flight during JV miniseries.
The JV baseball teams from rival high schools First Flight and Manteo battled during a late April two game miniseries. Game one hosted by First Flight on April 23 ended with Manteo on top 7-2. Game two moved to Manteo's home field. The game's momentum was like a ping pong ball bouncing back and forth. The final inning continue to build the excitement to a near fever pitch as Manteo loaded the bases now down by only several runs. The game was tied 8-8 when right hand batter Caleb Maher walked into the box. A high, inside pitch from First Flight's Anzel Anderson just grazed Maher and Manteo takes the game in exciting fashion with a walk-off hit-by-pitch 9-8 victory.
