On Thursday, April 25, the Dare County Board of Education hosted a facilities naming ceremony at Manteo High School to officially unveil the Terry Wheeler Clubhouse. The Board voted unanimously to name the clubhouse in honor of Wheeler.

Superintendent John Farrelly thanked Wheeler for his consistent support of the school system, stating, “Throughout his career, Terry Wheeler has been an advocate for the children and families in Dare County. His support of our school system will ensure that future generations of students have the opportunity to experience a quality education.”

Board of Education Chair Bea Basnight commented, “This is a well-deserved honor for Mr. Wheeler. Throughout his entire career and in retirement, Terry has been a tireless advocate for Dare County Schools.”
