The Manteo High School varsity soccer program had three seniors sign to play collegiately next year. Erik Hernandez, son of Isaac and Ride Hernandez, Landon Taylor, son of Robert and Pamela Taylor, and Jose Velasco, son of Eugenio Velasco and Honovina Bonilla, have all signed to play soccer for Brevard College.

Erik was a four-year starter for the varsity soccer team, most known for his on-the-ball skills and playmaking ability as a center midfielder. He accumulated 66 goals and 74 assists in his four years at Manteo.

Jose was also a four-year starter for the varsity soccer team, most known for his defensive prowess, ability to lock down any attacker and his confidence on the ball in difficult situations. He accumulated five goals and six assists as a center back.

Landon Taylor moved to Manteo his sophomore year and worked hard to become one of Manteo’s most prominent and important players as a defensive midfielder. Landon accumulated 30 goals and 23 assists in his three years at Manteo.
